Brunello di Montalcino
Brunello di Montalcino is one of the internationally sought-after red wines of Italy and is a varitey of the Sangiovese grape, the Sangiovese Grosso or Brunello grapes.
The name derives from the commune Montalcino in Val d'Orcia, south of Siena (Tuscany) located.
Brunello is released only from the fifth year following the harvest for the official trade, it must be aged for at least two years in oak barrels and have at least four months in bottle. For the Brunello di Montalcino Riserva there is the release from the sixth year following the harvest, it has to be aged for at least two years in oak barrels and have at least six months bottle aging. Then it creates a rich, full-bodied, highly aromatic wine.
