Barolo
Barolo is a dry, red wine grown in Italy and counts among wine connoisseurs next to Brunello and Amarone to the best red wines of Italy. The origin of Barolo from Piedmont, from the borough Barolo, gave the wine its name.
Unlike many other great red wines, Barolo is not a blend it is made of 100% from the Nebbiolo variety.
The DOCG regulations were reworked in recent years, the minimum storage time has been reduced to two years in barrel and one year in bottle and keg as wood is no longer exclusively Slavonian oak permitted. Also, it is now possible to have the Barolo mature in barriques.
