In 1860 the company was founded in Milan by Gaspare Campari, the developer of the original recipe for the herbal liqueur and aperitif Campari. p>
1995, Campari took over the Italian division of the Dutch group BolsWessanen drinks. Thus, the Company acquired major brands such as Crodino, Cynar, Lemonsoda, Oransoda, Biancosarti and Crodo. p>
2012 took over Campari for the equivalent of 350 million euros a majority share in the Jamaican Group Lascelles deMercado and thus the rum brands Appleton, Wray & Nephew and Coruba and the transaction is so far the third largest corporate takeover in the history of Campari p>.
