In 1860 the company was founded in Milan by Gaspare Campari, the developer of the original recipe for the herbal liqueur and aperitif Campari.
1995, Campari took over the Italian division of the Dutch group BolsWessanen drinks. Thus, the Company acquired major brands such as Crodino, Cynar, Lemonsoda, Oransoda, Biancosarti and Crodo.
2012 took over Campari for the equivalent of 350 million euros a majority share in the Jamaican Group Lascelles deMercado and thus the rum brands Appleton, Wray & Nephew and Coruba and the transaction is so far the third largest corporate takeover in the history of Campari .
