Ornellaia' is one of the cult wines of Italy and one of the top wines in the world! 1980 Lodovico Antinori bought this estate in the Tuscan Maremma, near the village of Bolgheri. The Ornellaia winery is located on the hills next to the Tenuta San Guido, where the legendary Sassicaia grows.
In 1981, he began to plant the vine, from which great on Ornellaia wines were produced: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a little white Sauvignon. Until 1992, 70 acres of vineyards were planted. Shortly, 'Ornellaia' made its way into the group of the most sought-after wines in the world. The 98s 'Ornellaia' celebrated the Wine Spectator as the best red wine in the world. Since 1997 Ornellaia produced the 'Le Serre Nuove. While in the 'Ornellaia' predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a little Cabernet Franc little, Francesco is' Le Serre Nuove without Cabernet made, otherwise it is treated as the 'Ornellaia': low yields per hectare by 35 hl per hectare, alcoholic fermentation partly in steel and partly in wooden vats, each grape variety is fermented separately, aging in French oak barrels 14-18 months.
