First ancestors of the Antinori family in Florence you will find the beginning of the 13th Century. Wine production began in 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori join the guild of wine merchants. But it was only in the 16th Century makes Alessandro Antinori, banker and merchant, known to his wine estates in Italy and around the world by traveling from Lyon to Flanders, from Spain to Algeria.

Wine is and remains the passion of the family, thus the Fattoria dei Marchesi Lodovico e Piero Antinori (Winery of Lodovico and Piero Antinori Marchesi) was founded in 1898. Founders were the two sons of Marchese Niccolò - a direct successor of that Niccolò who purchased Palazzo Antinori in 1506 - which had already been used for the improvement and dissemination of Tuscan wines in the world.
